Bones and Such

When we came back from vacation, I took RJ in the next day to get his cast removed. It had been on 4 weeks, and I think we were both ready...so we thought.

They took it off, took X-rays again to ensure the bone had healed, and then sent us on our way. Well, the whole next week was MISERABLE. RJ refused to walk without screaming. He refused to put weight on his foot or bend it. We knew that he would have lost muscle mass, but we were starting to think that something was really wrong still. Anyway, 6 days after the cast came off, RJ was playing with his little neighbor friend, Lincoln, and he jumped off the bottom stair and sprained his RIGHT foot...the opposite of the broken one. We thought he broke it too at the time because he refused to walk and screamed for 6 hours straight. So, we finally took him back in and had BOTH feet reX-rayed. Well, at first they thought the left one (original break) wasn't healed fully, so they sent us to get a walking boot. They said that nothing was wrong with the right and that we should just wrap it and give him IBU for a day or so. NOW we had a child who wouldn't walk at ALL. Ugh!


Then later that night, the doctor came back and said that the radiologist said nothing was wrong and to take the wrap off the right foot and the boot off the left. Anyway, we spent alot of money in that day and had a child who still wouldn't walk without screaming. I was very VERY annoyed. So, here is a picture of my little guy with his boot and wrapped feet.

He is holding the right foot, so it is hard to see the wrap, but pretty pathetic, right? I felt bad for the little guy.

Anyway, now it has been 2 weeks since the fall and 3 weeks since the cast came off and he is doing fine. He still kinda limps but, overall, he is back in the game (thankfully!).
